Art Workshop: Drawing Fundamentals

March 9, 2013

Local artist, Maryellen Sakura, is teaching a 2-day Art Workshop: Drawing Fundamentals at the Curious George Cottage (7 Noon Peak Rd.) on Thursday and Friday, March 14 & 15, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Drawing and design are the fundamentals needed in all other art forms.  Renew your ability to see and record the world around you. Using still life settings, found objects, the nearby landscape and photo resources, the class will explore a number of exercises aimed at building your skills.  You will use conte crayon (less messy than charcoal), pencil and micropens. On day two of the workshop, the use of micro pens with watercolor and pastels will be introduced as well as the appropriate papers for each. Bring any previous work you have done as a frame of reference (optional).

The fee for the 2-day workshop is $140 for Rey Center members and $175 for non-members (all materials included).

Preregistration is required by contacting the Margret and H.A. Rey Center at [email protected] or 603-236-3308.

Maryellen Sakura is a practicing artist with over 38 years of teaching experience.  She has exhibited her work at the Rey Center and in galleries in New Mexico, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.  Her work is in collections in Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan as well as this country.
