Gigi Estes fills us in on last week’s gathering of the Nordic Silver Streaks:
Friday, March 1
We couldn’t get together until today due to another snowstorm. It was 33°F and cloudy at the Nordic Center. I expected a sizable group since we had changed the day, but there were only five of us plus one Nordic who started out a bit later and decided to snowshoe. After limbering-up exercises with Kay we drove to the North End. Four of us skied up Livermore Road and a short section of Upper Snows Mountain while one Nordic stayed in the less steep areas. The snow was hard packed and freshly groomed and we skied on beautiful, unspoiled corduroy. Skiing up gave us a good cardio workout. Then we were ready for a joy ride down! We were gliding so effortlessly; Alan called it “like floating on a magic carpet.” On the way down we met another Nordic on snowshoes who had forgotten that we planned to meet today. She met us when we all were back at the Nordic Center for lunch, coffee and goodies. What a great morning it was!
Today, Wednesday, Mar. 6, is another classic ski clinic from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with Kay. The skate-ski clinic will be March 13.
