The Guerilla Haiku Movement is a “fun for all ages” nation-wide phenomenon that promotes literacy in kids, young adults and the young at heart! This fun event has been conducted all across the country, but this is the first time it has been offered in New England!
Theatre Under The Stars will host this extraordinary event on Sunday, Aug. 5 from 12-3 p.m. in Waterville Valley.
Led by educator/”Haiku Mistress” Caley Vickerman, this is a donation-only adventure that engages people in a fun, interactive way to enjoy the beauty of Waterville Valley, spend time together as a family and make new friends—all while creating “in the moment” sidewalk chalk art (that washes away with the first rain) and memories that will last a lifetime.
The Details
Aided by a list of items to be scavenged as part of a “hunt,” groups are challenged to write haiku in washable sidewalk chalk on pavement in Town Square and along Valley Road, Boulder Path, Noon Peak Road and in the parking lot of the Waterville Valley Elementary School. The “field of play” will encompass the portion of Valley Road from the Elementary School parking lot, past Town Square, up to the ski lift by BBTS (Snows Mountain). Each group will choose their own adventures for the 1 hr 45 minute Scavenger Hunt through Waterville Valley.
