Let There be Snow(making)

December 3, 2017

I ran into Waterville Valley Nordic Director, Ian Cullison, at the Adventure Center on Friday.  I noticed some of Waterville’s snowmaking crew moving a snowgun into place and getting ready to draw water from Corcoran Pond.

Later I saw this post from Ian on Facebook:

Last year really spoiled us with early snow… but don’t forget it’s just barely December! So for now, come rent a fat bike and explore the trails at a different speed. Or stop by the shop to chat and check out all the shiny new things on the shelves. We’re offering some great discounts on closeout items and as always season passholders receive 20% off all merchandise.

After a quick test of our new Sufag fan gun on Friday morning (photo below), we will be firing it up in earnest for a night of snowmaking. We will continue to make snow when temperatures allow, with the goal of getting our training loop going as soon as we can to give everyone a place to start stretching their skiing muscles.

Mark your calendars.  The Nordic Season Passholder Party will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Come by for some light refreshments and get to know all the people you’ll be seeing out on the trails this winter.

Shop Hours (until we have skiing):  Friday-Sunday: 9-3 p.m.
