There are some interesting commemorative ‘holidays’ on the calendar. International Puzzle Day on July 13. Friendship Day on August 5. International Lefthanders Day on August 13. And coming right up is National Moth Week from July 20-28.
The Margret and H.A. Rey Center will be celebrating the 2nd annual National Moth Week by offering a special Moth Mania program on Wednesday, July 24, as part of their “Explore the Night” family nature program.
Plan on joining the moth crazy Rey Center staff and moth expert, Deb Lievens, in Waterville Valley on Wednesday evening, July 24th from 8:30-10 p.m. Just like citizen scientists from around the globe, Waterville Valley’s moth maniacs will be setting up white sheets and lights in order to observe and document one of nature’s most diverse and misunderstood creatures. National Moth Week literally shines a much-needed spotlight on moths and their ecological significance. There are hundreds of thousands of moth species, many of them as beautiful as their colorful cousins, the butterflies, and just as important to the ecosystem.
“Explore the Night” is for adults and families with children ages 6+. The Moth Mania program is FREE in celebration of Moth Week! Meet at the Margret and H.A. Rey Center on the second floor of Town Square, in Waterville Valley. To register contact the Margret and H.A. Rey Center at [email protected] or call 603-236-3308.
