Old-Fashioned Tent Raising

May 31, 2013

Waterville Valley’s own Theatre Under the Stars/Shakespeare in the Valley is having a good old-fashioned Community Tent Raising on Saturday, June 1 (rain date: Sunday, June 2) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Last year, with the generous help of community members, the theatre was able to turn their new location – Gazebo Hill, next to the Ice Arena – into a beautiful outdoor theatre.  This year they need help in raising the large tent and erecting some fencing.  It’s not heavy lifting or hard manual labor – just many hands to hold the tent guide ropes.

Plan on meeting at the theatre site adjacent to the Ice Arena and bringing a pair of sturdy work gloves, sunscreen and bug spray.

If you can’t stay for the whole time, the most hands will be needed for the tent raising, which will be from 9-11 a.m. or so.
