Painting and Crafting Mini-Classes

The newly-opened Waterville Valley Decorative Arts Center in Town Square (part of I Dream of Beading, located on the second level) will be offering introductory paint and crafting mini-classes in conjunction with the annual Cookies & Snow: A Taste of the Holidays event. 

Owner Tricia Joiner and her talented staff will help you get a jump-start painting and crafting, and you’ll get to take home a beautiful finished project. 

SATURDAY, DEC. 1 SCHEDULE:

11am – 12pm – Make a Beaded Angel for your Christmas tree, the holiday season or just because you love angels.  Ages 11+  Cost $6

1 – 2pm – Create a Holiday Necklace with a sparkly snowman pendant.  Cost $10

1- 2 pm – Take home an extra special reminder of your visit.  Paint the Waterville Valley Library in winter on a porcelain ornament using pen and ink with oil rouging.  Ages 11+  Cost $10

2:30 – 3:30pm – Iris paper folding Christmas card.  The Iris Folding technique originated in Holland and gets its name from the fact that the center of the design resembles the iris or eye of a camera.  This technique can be used to make greeting cards, on scrapbook pages, or can even be framed and hung on a wall.  Ages 11+  Cost $10

2:30 – 3:30pm – Paint a Snowman gift tag on watercolor paper  Easy and fun – you will go home and paint lots more to personalize your holiday packages.  Ages 11+  Cost $10

Magic of Christmas Exhibition & Sale

Through January 2, 2012

The “Magic of Christmas” Exhibition and Sale is the Art Center’s kick-off event and is ongoing until January 2, 2012. 

At the new Arts Center you will find unique hand-painted ornaments, Christmas decorations, and household items painted by members of the White Mountain Decorative Painters’ Guild (WMDPG). 

Decorative painting demonstrations by artists from the WMDPG and “make it and take it” projects for young people and adults will be held on Saturdays during the exhibit/sale. 

The Waterville Valley Decorative Arts Center will be offering a full program of decorative painting classes for beginning through advanced students.  Come for an hour, an afternoon, or a week to boost your creative energy or begin a hobby for a lifetime of enjoyment.  Bring your family and friends or make new friends, sharing in an experience that will be treasured for years to come.
