Waterville Valley Amazing Race Winners

August 4, 2012

Last Saturday the Recreation Department hosted the first Waterville Valley Amazing Race.  Like the other more famous Amazing Race on CBS, teams of two raced around the valley on foot, on bike or on the trolley (no private motorized vbehicles) in competition with other teams.  Contestants had to follow clues from check-point to check-point and tackle mini-challenges along the way.  Sucessful completion of the mini-challenges provided teams the opportunity shave off previous minutes from their overall time.  The teams in each age bracket with the best overall time (after challenges) win prizes.

Three teams of two were awarded prizes for the fastest overall time (calculated by start/end time & accounting for time deductions/penalties earned from our mini challenges).

Congratulations to Emmett & Colleen Maguire who took the top spot in the ‘Adult’ bracket, with a total combined time of 2 hours & 6 minutes.

John & Shannon Benson took first place for the ‘Mixed’ (1 adult; 1 child age 10+) bracket, with a total time of 2 hours & 11 minutes.

Molly Usher & Libby Johanson took {uncontested} first in the ‘Youth’ (2 children, age 10+, but under 18) with a total time of 2 hours & 43 minutes.

The top 3 teams (above) took home a pair of $50 Gift Cards from 1829 Oufitters (the NorthFace store) in Town Square, courtesy of the Recreation Department and all participants took home a ‘The North Face’ water bottle, courtesy of 1829 Outfitters.
