‘Snowfall gives boost to local businesses – a strong start to winter season.’
WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. —With all the fresh snow, ski resorts and businesses hope this season won’t be a slippery slope like last winter.
The good news is with the two snow storms this week, business is off to a stellar start.
In Waterville Valley, the town has gotten about 18 inches of snow in the past week.
The cold temperatures plus more than a foot of fresh snow equals fun for families.
“This is great. Excellent,” said Ted Witman, from Massachusetts.
It also provides a much needed lift to ski resorts and surrounding businesses.
“It’s snow driven industry and when we have snow people come out,” said Steven Webber, manager of Waterville Nordic Center.
In the past few days, a record number of people have been lining up to hit the slopes at Waterville Valley Resort.
“It’s terrific. We’ve had without a doubt one of the best ski weeks, Christmas weeks we’ve had in quite a while. It really put a boost into the ski season, after last year was a little bit of a downer,” said Chris Sununu, owner of Waterville Valley Resort.
