The Welch & Dickey peaks – just outside Waterville Valley – see thousands of visitors each year and nearly every visitor hikes through the unique low-elevation outcrop plant communities that populate the first expansive ledge area on Welch Mountain.  On Saturday, volunteers will work alongside Rey Center and US Forest Service staff to preserve these plant communities by constructing barriers with rocks and tree debris and prepare the Welch Ledges for a hiker-filled summer.

Meet at the Welch-Dickey trailhead in Thornton, NH, at 9 a.m.  Need to start later? No problem.  Join the volunteers on the Welch Ledges by following the Welch-Dickey Trail (counter-clockwise) for approximately 1.3 miles.

Bring water, lunch or a snack, work or garden gloves, and sun protection.

Please let the Rey Center know if you plan to attend by calling or emailing 603-236-3308 or [email protected].
