A big welcome to all the athletes, families, supporters and volunteers who are in Waterville Valley for the 38th annual Special Olympics State Winter Games.

Opening ceremonies were held Sunday night in Town Square. Snowshoeing, cross-country and alpine racing competitions will be held Monday and Tuesday, March 3 & 4.  Awards ceremonies will take place at the conclusion of each event.

A dinner and dance are planned for athletes Monday night at the Waterville Valley Conference Center.  Competitions wrap-up Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Last year, more than 350 athletes ranging in age from 8-77 competed at the winter games.
