WVBBTS Training Center Approved

August 8, 2013

This afternoon Peter Stokloza, CEO & Executive Director of the WVBBTS/SEF, shared some great news!

In a special meeting at 8 a.m. this morning, the Town of Waterville Valley’s Planning Board voted unanimously to approve our site plan for the Training Center, Phase 1.  In a motion made by Cathy Chandler and seconded by Bob Guilbert, the members and alternate members gave the thumbs up to our final set of revisions after three prior meetings.

Having successfully navigated this required approval process BBTS now has the green light to move forward with Training Center construction, pending further fundraising efforts.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that the building will be named for Thomas Barbeau whose unflagging support of our athletes and loyalty to the organization is without equal. The Thomas Barbeau Training Center will house space dedicated to Burdenko Method, of which Tom is a Certified Master.  There will also be a trampoline area for use by our Freestyle and Snowboard athletes.   Rounding out the space will be an Equipment Tuning Room, Men’s and Women’s restroom and shower facilities, cubbies, and a reception desk area.

The concept of a BBTS Training Center has been discussed in strategic planning sessions and has gone through several design iterations.  We are confident that the current design will enhance our programmatic offerings for all athletes.
