Music in the Valley

The Waterville Valley Music Center, now in its 17th year, has partnered with the Margaret and H.A. Rey Center to bring the Music in the Valley Series!


Tuesday, July 23, 8-9 p.m.  Maestro Kenneth Kiesler will present “The Nuts and Bolts of Conducting a Symphony Orchestra” complete with demonstration and possibly the opportunity for a guest or two to try their hand at conducting! No charge to attend, donations welcome. Location: The Rey Center, Town Square.

Kids Program

Wednesday, July 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m.  “Hey Kids, What’s That Sound – A Classical Music Experience for Kids.”  Join professional musicians from the Waterville Valley Music Center for an introduction to classical music. Children will enjoy learning about the sounds created by various instruments and how the different sounds are put together to make beautiful music. Designed for families with children ages 5 and older.  No charge to attend, donations welcome.  Location:  The Rey Center, Town Square.


Saturday, July 27, 7-9 p.m.  The Waterville Valley Music Center’s Conducting Masterclass, led by renowned conducting pedagogue Maestro Kenneth Kiesler, is a week-long program for advanced conductors wishing to solidify technique and learn how to better convey their musical ideas with a professional orchestra. This performance, with a professional orchestra, is the culminating experience of their week; the repertoire will include Elgar, Serenade for Strings; Mozart, Symphony 40 (version without clarinets); Schubert, Symphony #5; and Stravinsky, Dumbarton Oaks Concerto.  No charge to attend, donations welcome. Location to be determined – contact the Rey Center for details – 603-236-3308.
