4th Annual Holiday Lights Contest

November 2, 2011

Waterville Valley Resort Association is once again sponsoring the resort’s annual Holiday Lights Contest.  WVRA is asking the business community to help make the Valley look festive and bright by lighting up their establishments with holiday lights.

An esteemed panel of judges will make their way around the resort on Thursday, Dec. 1 beginning at 4:30 p.m. and choose the best lit and decorated in several categories, including interior and exterior lodge, condominium association, business, and non-profit and municipal.

A Holiday Lights awards party and celebration will be held in conjunction with the Town Square’s annual Customer Appreciation Day on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Diamond’s Edge North Restaurant beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the half price appetizers until 8 p.m. when trophies are presented to the contest winners!  Plus, Town Square’s shops and restaurants will be offering discounts on food, drink and merchandise throughout the day and evening.

Right: This is what our offices at Waterville Valley Realty looked like in 2010 as we decorated for the Holiday Lights Contest!

New this year, WVRA is giving homeowners a little more time to light up and decorate the exterior of their homes and individual condominiums.  Those who would like to enter the “Holiday Lights Competition” can sign-up at the Post Office by Dec. 10.  From Dec. 10-18, the public is invited to review the list of participants at the Post office then cruise around the Valley to enjoy their neighbor’s creativity.  A fan favorite home or condominium will be chosen by the public’s votes cast in the ballot box at the Post Office by Dec. 18.  The winning home or condominium will be announced in the January issue of the WigWag and awarded the new “Spirit Cup” trophy!  From this year forward, the name of the fan favorite will be engraved on the “Spirit Cup” and can be displayed by the proud homeowner in their home until the next year.  Or, the trophy can go in the display case at the Waterville Valley Recreation Department to be admired by the public.

Businesses must sign-up for judging by Nov. 30.  Email Jan Stearns at or call 236-3333.
