BBTS Athlete Hunter Brayton Wins U14 CanAms

Waterville Valley Black & Blue Trail Smashers Snowsports Educational Foundation (WVBBTS/SEF) and Waterville Valley Academy are deservedly proud.  Student athlete Hunter Brayton is the overall winner of the highly prestigious CanAms which took place on March 31, 2013 at Mont-Tremblant, Canada. Brayton prevailed as the slalom champion in 1:32.85 after finishing his first round in 46.29 and his second round in 46.56.

The Taschereau Cup is the oldest competition of its kind in North America and welcomes the best up and coming skiers.  Brayton’s win earns him a permanent spot on the Taschereau Cup trophy.

An outstanding student-athlete and a Waterville Valley resident, Brayton’s other 2012-2013 Alpine accomplishments include:

  • 5th Place – U14 CanAM GS, March 29, 2013, Mont-Tremblant, Canada with a combined time of 2:02.53
  • Overall Champion U14 Eastern Championships, March 16-17, 2013, Sunday River, ME taking 2nd place in slalom with combined time of 1:20.45 and 1st place in giant slalom with combined time of 1:46.44.
  • NHARA  U14 GS Champion, March 9-10, 2013, Loon, NH with a combined time of 2:08.03
  • NHARA  U14 Super G Champion, February 22, 2013, Dartmouth, NH
  • Winner of the Dan Cardillo Race For Excellence, Giant Slalom, December 31, 2012, Waterville Valley, NH with a combined time of 53.75
  • Winning all 3 NH qualifiers taking 6 first place spots

Brayton is one of only five people to have received the CEO Award for overall excellence from WVBBTS.  He was also honored with an Alpine U14 award from the Waterville Valley Academy which is presented to a student-athlete who demonstrates athletic excellence.
