“There’s something about skiing just the right kind of resort on just that right kind of day that releases the little kid in you.”
Moira McCarthy wrote an inspiring article about “being a real Valley girl” in the March 17 issue of the Boston Herald.
“I got to thinking as we skied that day how sad it is that we adults sometimes lose our sense of childlike abandon, even on skis. We look for the biggest mountain; the most insane challenge. We focus on apres, or find a way to zip in and out and get back to work. There’s something about just getting out there and letting it all go, reaching back to the kind of skiing when you’d whoop and scream and travel in a giant clump of friends each run. We all need to do that.
So before the season ends, head off to a nice, friendly, kicked-back family spot like Waterville. Take run after run. Laugh out loud. Let it all go.”
