July 7, 2011

Run Bike & Swim NH in The Black Fly Triathlon

Jessica Jordan, a blogger for, explains what’s happening at the Black Fly Triathlon this weekend…

It’s a triathlon of triathlons at BuzzFest in Waterville Valley from Friday, July 8th through Sunday, July 10th.

Head over to Town Square in Waterville Valley, 6 Village Road on Friday, July 8th for three days of racing and summer celebration. The Black Fly Triathlon, organized and produced by endorFun Sports, begins with a bike race on Friday. The race is followed by live music and campfire s’mores on the beach.

Ready for more? Come back on Saturday morning for the International Distance swim, a .25 mile fresh water swim in beautiful, mountain-fed, Corcoran’s Pond. Dry off and enjoy the Rubber Ducky Race to benefit the Make A Wish foundation at noon.

The Little Buggers, Kids Triathlon will also be help on Saturday. Beginning at 3pm, children ages 6-12 may participate in a non-competitive 25-yard swim, 1.5-mile bike and .5 mile run. Kids are also welcome to play at the Kids Zone, an official area for arts, crafts, Nintendo Wii, coloring contest and more. Make sure your kids print out and color Buzz the Black Fly and bring him to the race for a special gift.

Later in the evening, get the whole family together for a glowing-fun Firefly 5K night run. The Firefly is a scenic 3.1-mile run through the beautiful acreage of The White Mountain National Forest. Enjoy a fantastic fireworks display following the 5K.

Not tired yet? Good. Head back to Waterville on Sunday morning and participate in The Black Fly Short Course 5 mile run through the forest, over bridges and back to Town Square. A kids pie-eating contest, awards ceremony and Black Fly Post-Race Shindig will follow into the evening.

Visit the Black Fly website for registration information. Discounts and special incentives are offered for pre-registered athletes.

The whole weekend is full of racing, fun and more racing. Don’t forget to stop by and talk with local vendors and exhibits out for the encompassing BuzzFest!
