Chili Challenge & Storytelling Festival

September 23, 2014

The temperature at the end of September starts to cool down as we head into fall; so, what better way to warm up than with Waterville Valley’s 16th Annual Chili Challenge and Brews on Saturday, September 27.

Waterville Valley area restaurants will compete in the resort’s Town Square to determine who cooks-up the best chili around.

Sample the chili for a tasting fee of $7.50 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under), then vote for your favorite.  The chili sampling starts at 12 noon and goes until the chili runs out, around 2 p.m.  At 2:30 p.m. the winner will be announced.

A Brew Tent will be open during and following the chili cook off until 4 p.m. featuring draft beer from Pacifico, Negra Modelo and Sierra Nevada.  Enjoy your chili and beer while listening to live music by The Uncle Steve Band.

Adults and kids alike can also enjoy the fourth annual White Mountain Storytelling Festival.  The festival starts on Friday, September 26 and runs through Sunday, September 28.  There will be storytellers from around the country sharing stories for people of every age. Make sure you see featured storyteller, musician and author, Odds Bodkins, on Saturday evening, Sept. 27.  Billboard called Bodkin “a modern-day Orpheus.”
