Cold Turkey Plunge

November 5, 2019

The leaves have fallen, temperatures are plummeting, and frost is on the pumpkin (and windshield). That means it’s time to gear up for the annual Cold Turkey Plunge in Waterville Valley.

On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports (WVAS) program will kick off the holiday season with the 7th annual Cold Turkey Plunge into the icy mountain waters of Corcoran Pond in Waterville Valley. The Plunge starts at 1 p.m., but there will be plenty to do in the Town Square before – and after!

The Plunge is the major fundraising event that supports WVAS activities. All money raised goes directly to WVAS to provide snow sports opportunities for persons with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in donations. For their efforts they will receive a WVAS empowered bracelet, an official Cold Turkey Plunge long sleeve t-shirt, and a gourmet cold turkey sandwich courtesy of Chef Sean Stout from the Wild Coyote Grill. See below for a list of other incentives that will be awarded for attaining various fundraising goals. Prizes will also be awarded in various categories such as individuals and teams with the most donations, best costume (costumes are optional), and more.

Not willing to take the plunge into the frigid waters? Become a V.P. (Virtual Plunger)! Make a donation of $50 or more to team VP right here.  Email a goofy picture of yourself to info@watervilleadaptive.com.  Event organizers will photoshop you plunging into the icy pond. You get bragging rights and Plunge swag without having to get wet!

The Greater Waterville Valley Community has embraced the event. Teams are already being formed and challenges are being made We’re looking forward to a great time. Ski at Waterville Valley in the morning, join us at the beach at 1pm, linger in the Town Square to greet Santa at 3pm and enjoy fabulous fireworks later in the evening!
