Denali 5 Summit Challenge

August 9, 2016

The Denali 5 Summit Challenge dares hikers to take on five mountains in and around Waterville Valley in one weekend!

Join the challenge this weekend, Friday-Sunday, Aug. 12-14.  All you need to do (hmmm…that makes it sound soooo easy!) is hike five peaks from the list below — totaling 20,000 feet, the height of Mount Denali in Alaska.  After you’ve finished the 3-day peak bagging, you will be able to claim the title “alive after five!”

Participation in the Denali Challenge is free and open to all.  Hikers are on their own for the five summit challenge (although you’re encouraged to get your friends and family outdoors hiking, too).  Plan on starting hiking on Friday.  Check in at the Town Square Info Booth on Friday evening, Aug. 12 between 6 & 8 p.m.  Then hit the trails again on Saturday and Sunday.

Family Hikes

There will be a free guided family hike on Saturday to the Cascades and on Sunday to Goodrich Rock.  Meet at the Info Booth in Town Square at 10 a.m.  Transportation to the trail head will be provided.
