On Friday, Sept. 26, Waterville Valley hosted the 2nd annual Finale in the Valley (aka the Waterville Valley Invitational) under clear blue skies. One hundred and fifty cross country runners competed in the event.
The Waterville Valley Invitational is the championship event for a 17-team regional cross country league that was created by high school coaches in an effort to offer their underexposed student athletes a first class event to honor their commitment to this challenging sport.
Coaches and runners alike love the scenic Waterville Valley venue. The course started and finished at Town Square. There was a long and difficult hill climb during the second mile. The athletes were cheered on by a huge crowd along the race route and at the start and finish lines in Town Square.
Congratulations to Waterville Valley’s Chris Schwartz, a cross country co-captain at Plymouth Regional High School, who finished 28th out of 150.
