Fries Resigns as President/GM of Ski Area

March 6, 2013

In an announcement that was shared with Waterville Valley employees, Bob Fries writes that he is resigning his position with Waterville Valley Resort.

Bob writes, “I have offered, and the company has accepted, for me to leave my position as President and General Manager of Waterville Valley Ski Area and become a consultant for the company.  In my new role, I will continue to work on finalizing the Green Peak expansion, working on the long-term Master Plan for the resort, continuing to try to secure major events from the U.S. Ski Team, and a number of other special projects.

“I will most likely find an office somewhere off the mountain to avoid any leadership confusion.  My last day in my current position will be March 8, 2013.  I am excited to be focusing on the very important expansion plans for Waterville Valley and continuing to work with the Forest Service and other consultants to make our plans a reality.

“I will miss some of the day-to-day excitement of the ski area, but will be working behind the scenes to make the ski experience better.”

Bob will have an office in Town Square and will continue to operate the Blue Moon Cafe with his wife, Debbie.   Best wishes, Bob!
