Gigi’s Nordic Streaks Report

February 15, 2017

Here’s Gigi’s latest installment of the Nordic Silver Streaks report!

Snow devils were dancing and twirling invitingly over the pond! Eight hardy, bundled up Nordics dared to venture out, leaving the warmth of the fire at the Nordic Center behind. 6°F, fierce winds, it was quite exhilarating. Along the pond the arctic blast was bone-chilling, but as soon as we reached the woods we did not feel any wind, just heard it roaring in the trees above. Three Nordics snowshoed the pond trail, returning via the open field and were blasted by the frigid wind. Five skiers chose Snows Brook, Figure Three and returned via HB Highway. Some of us were overdressed – as usual – and we were getting very hot skiing up the hills. The trails were perfectly groomed, the snow, a bit slow, so soft, it felt like skiing on butter. Nina’s comment was, “Those who didn’t come today don’t know what they are missing.” So true. Returning to the Nordic Center, we then proceeded to Tina and Mike’s beautiful home for our après ski. We were joined by some Alpines and enjoyed a delicious spread of great food. Thank you, all, and special thanks to Tina and Mike. See you all next Wednesday.
