Guided Hike, BYO Picnic Lunch at Schwendi Hutte

September 15, 2017

WVAIA is offering a delightful view-laden hike on Saturday, Sept. 16. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Town Square gazebo to carpool or shuttle to Mt. Tecumseh. Bring plenty of water and a lunch.

Led by WVAIA volunteer John Recine, the group will hike up the service roads of Waterville Valley’s ski slopes on Mt. Tecumseh and then enjoy a BYO picnic lunch on the deck of the Schwendi Hutte.

This is a moderate hike. The route will ascend and descend along the base of the new Green Peak ski trails, then connect with the service road that leads up Oblivion and No Grit, and on to the Schwendi Hutte just a short distance farther. The views are positively brobdingnagian from this vantage point.

The photo below was taken earlier this spring descending this same route. Can you identify the peaks?

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for WVAIA Trails Day on Saturday, Sept. 30.  Details will follow.
