Guided Hike to Bald Knob

May 22, 2015

Waterville Valley’s outdoor club, WVAIA, is leading a unique (and free!) off-trail hike to Bald Knob on the Acteon Ridge on Sunday, May 24.  Pack a lunch and water and meet at the Town Square gazebo by 9 a.m. on Sunday.

WVAIA hike leader, Dan Newton, will guide you on this short but challenging hike.  You’ll ascend a hemlock forest off the Yellow Jacket Trail.  The woods are open and steep at times, but it is a short distance to the saddle just east of Bald Knob where the terrain levels out.  From there the woods are more thick, but they lead to a spectacular view-laden rock summit adjacent to Welch and Dickey.  Enjoy lunch on the summit and plan on returning to Waterville Valley by 3 p.m.

Questions?  Contact Dan Newton at 603-726-1232.
