Guided Hike: Welch-Dickey Loop

Dan Newton, president of the Waterville Valley Athletic & Improvement Association – better known in these parts as WVAIA – was joined by a group of volunteers on the Dickey Trail in Thornton on Saturday, May 4 for WVAIA’s first trails day of the 2013 season.  Pictured in In the photo, Dan’s climbed a tree to nail a directional sign that will help guide hikers ascending the Dickey Trail.

Join Dan on Saturday, May 11, 2013 as he leads a guided hike of the Welch-Dickey Loop.  This 4.4-mile loop hike offers tremendous views and much varied and interesting terrain for comparatively little effort.

TIME:  9 a.m.
PLACE:  Meet at the gazebo in Town Square for carpool to the trail head parking lot.
LEADER:  Dan Newton
DIFFICULTY LEVEL:   This is a moderately difficult hike due to several steep ascents.

Bring plenty of water and snacks.
