Holiday Light Competition Results

December 24, 2013

I decided to step down this year as organizer of Waterville Valley’s annual Holiday Lights Competition.  Thankfully, the town’s Board of Selectmen picked up the reins and the good-natured community competition went on as scheduled with the three Selectmen judging the entrants.

At last week’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen, they announced the 2013 winners…

1st Place – Tie

  • The Valley Inn:  Best re-creation of “Holiday Home Away from Home.”  Bring your book or newspaper and sit and enjoy the beautiful lobby decorations!
  • The Margret & H.A. Rey Center (Town Square):  The best creative theme and fun window encouraging curiosity about what’s inside and featuring a Waterville Valley theme.

  • Toad Hall Toys / Dreams & Visions:  A shared award for the best use of blue & white LED lights by a business.
  • Black Bear Lodge:  Best decoration featuring a hand painted window mural.
  • Waterville Valley Recreation Department:  Best use of drop-ceiling tiles by a municipal staff.
  • The Myrick Home:  The best understated presentation effectively augmented by lights in jointly owned trees with their neighbors.
