Just Returned from a Me-Cation

May 5, 2014

Many New Hampshire schools were closed for spring break last week, and I bet Florida beaches were swarming with North Country vacationers looking for sun, surf and sand after a long snowy winter.

I bucked the trend (and saved myself oodles of money) by spending my ‘me-cation’ right here in New Hampshire.  I worked out every day at the White Mountain Athletic Club, enjoyed invigorating walks, pampered myself, tossed sticks and balls to the dogs, went shopping and to the movies, dined out, visited with friends and family, listened to the birds, explored the woods around my house, cooked and baked, read a couple of classic Agatha Christie mysteries, and sat on my deck (whether the sun was shining or not) and relaxed.

I don’t begrudge people who choose to vacation away.   For me, the best way to recharge my batteries is by enjoying a staycation right here in the Waterville Valley area.
