Leadfoot checks in from the AT

June 23, 2012

Brenda “Leadfoot” Conklin recently checked in from the Appalachian Trail.  Here’s her latest report…

13 states down, one to go. Thought by now the bugs and heat would have sent me packing. Miraculously we’re enjoying neither. Fitness better than ever. Big appetite. Car overheated so we rented one. It’s more comfy for car camping. The trail in Smoky Mountain National Park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. We saw the 480′ TVA Fontana dam. My sister, Bonnie, will be flying to Atlanta to share the grand finale with us. Hard to believe the end is eminent – like the feeling before graduation. – Leadfoot

Brenda snapped this self-portrait from the trail, and – as always – she’s smiling!
