People magazine just arrived and I’m devouring the photos and story, “Behind the Scenes in Cannes.” The article opens with a 2-page photo spread of a sharp dressed man at the Canal + Pier in Cannes. At first glance, I thought that’s young Lenny Emery of Waterville Valley! Ah, my mistake. It’s actor James Franco. But Lenny Emery has the look. And, apparently, he has the cred because he was indeed at the Cannes Film Festival in May celebrating the short film he produced called Fool’s Day.
Lenny grew up in Waterville Valley with his musician dad, Leonard Emery, and big sister Lea. My son, Tyler, was in Lenny’s class at the Waterville Valley Elementary School and spent many after school play dates at Lenny’s house. It was a house filled with musical instruments, recording equipment, sports equipment, games and toys – and, most importantly, fun and love. There was no doubt the Emery kids were going to go places. Big places.
Lenny inherited his dad’s energy, talent, creativity and joie de vivre. After graduating from Plymouth Regional High School he left wee Waterville Valley for the skyscrapers of New York City. He attended the School of Visual Arts and graduated with a degree in film. Since then he’s dabbled in modeling, acting, film, producing, directing, and DJing. And now he has the Cannes Film Festival under his belt. Amazing.
Congratulations, Lenny. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
