Waterville Valley saw some awesome tennis played last weekend during the 32nd annual New Hampshire Open Tennis Championships.
Top seed Christian Heaney-Secord of Westwood, MA lived up to his billing and won the $8,000 NH Open on Sunday, July 21 by defeating unseeded Lucas Da Silveira of Sao Paulo, Brazil, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
Da Silveira, a sophomore at Brown University, defeated second seed Nolan Paige of Fairfield, CT in the quarterfinals, and then Alex Centenari of Maryland in the semifinals.
Heaney-Secord secured a a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Richard Robbie of Harwichport, MA in the semifinals.
Secord-Heaney, a junior All-American at Carnegie Melon University, scored a daily double by winning the doubles title, along with Robbie, over Paige and Centenari, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
