Mad River Running Club

July 7, 2015

If you’re looking for some company while out running in Waterville Valley, then check out the newly formed Mad River Running Club!  MRRC is a Recreation Department program and is led by Leah Elliot, director of the Waterville Valley Nordic Center.  Leah’s a familiar face as she’s running around Waterville Valley’s roads and trails throughout the year.

Join Leah and other runners for a run in Waterville Valley (mostly on trails) on Saturdays from 8-9 a.m. and Mondays from 9-10 a.m.  Meet at the Adventure Center/Gazebo in Town Square.  There is no charge to participate in this twice per week runs!

Fun 5k Races

Leah wanted to add some fun, friendly, timed competition to the running mix with several 5k races throughout the summer.  5k Race #2 is coming up on Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m.  There is a $5 entry fee. All are welcome to participate!  Meet at the Gazebo in Town Square.

Mark your calendar for 5k Race #3 on Thursday, August 20 at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $5. And the race series will culminate with a 10 Mile Trail Finale on Saturday, September 26 at 8 a.m.  Entry fee is $45.  This will be a fully supported race with great prizes for the top finishers (including the first of the Mad River Running Club long sleeve tech-T’s due out this season) and a raffle for all participants.

    Good Morning!
Is this group still operating?? I am coming up for a family vacation the weekend before the 4th of July 2017 and was looking for a group/route for a long run.

I will double check and get right back to you!

I just heard back from Leah, who organized and led the Mad River Running Club. She suggests that you stay tuned to the MRRC Facebook page.
Post a note that you’re looking for some running mates and/or ideas for running locations.

Let me know if you don’t have Facebook and I can give you Leah’s direct email address – email me directly at Even if the MRRC doesn’t have something organized for when you’re in the Valley, Leah said she often runs in the valley and there are plenty of folks who like to network for some company.
