Improvements Underway at White Mountain Athletic Club

March 1, 2018

There’s another round of exciting improvements ahead for the White Mountain Athletic Club!

With the new outdoor pool complex finished, the Club is now turning its attention to renovating and relocating the cardio room and program and weight rooms, and making improvements to the parking lot.

Club President Tom Gross, Jr. says, “With these improvements everyone wins.  The program instructors get a larger, improved space, the weight room expands significantly, and the cardio room will provide a more suitable environment to work out in with better views and an increased space.”

Construction of the new cardio room has already begun in what was formerly the game room/racquetball court area located on the main floor of the Club. With new windows facing the woods, a full-length glass entrance and sound dampening wind sails the new room will provide a much-needed update to the existing cardio room.

“We plan to bring in new cardio equipment after we take a look at the room and move the current fleet into it,” according to Rene Schwartz, General Manager.  He adds, “The idea is to keep the good equipment we have while slowly rolling in new cardio options as money and time permits.”

The weight room will see an expansion into the existing program room, which will provide the space to spread out the existing equipment and accommodate more participants. Rubber flooring will be added. Schwartz said the plan is to move around existing equipment and add new pieces as time, money and space permits.

The program room, which currently houses stretching, exercise balls, hand weights and fitness programs like yoga, will move upstairs to the former cardio room. “This will provide room for more participants and classes,” says Schwartz.

Rounding out this year’s capital improvement list will be a completely reconstructed and repaved parking lot, which will help with perimeter drainage and provide more parking space when the Club is busy.

The current round of improvements carries on the continued commitment by Club management and its board of directors to provide a top-notch facility for club members and vacationing guests.
