Peek in the Window at 1829 Outfitters

October 4, 2013

When you’re in Waterville Valley’s Town Square next, take a peek at the window display at 1829 Outfitters.  You’ll see the typical mannequins outfitted in the latest products from The North Face, Timberland, Oakley, and Bern.  But, what will wow you is the center window – the handiwork of store manager Nichole Foster’s talented husband, Bobby.

Bobby, with help from Nichole and their three daughters, lovingly creates the window displays by hand.  He carves, builds, paints and then populates mountain landscapes with hand-crafted and lighted villages, figurines, and holiday and seasonal themed decorations.

When I look at Bobby and Nichole’s window displays I am transported back to my childhood and the wonder and amazement I felt when I peered through the windows of Filene’s and Macy’s at Christmastime.

Bobby and Nichole’s window displays may not be of the same size and magnitude of the famous Boston and New York City department stores, but they still evoke feelings of whimsy, nostalgia, and laugh-out-loud merriment.

These photos don’t do the window displays justice.  Check out Bobby’s handiwork for yourself.  Oh, and you don’t have to just window shop…1829 Outfitters is having a blowout 45% off everything in the store sale RIGHT NOW!
