Pond Skimming & Last Run Luau

April 3, 2014

Bid Aloha to the 2013/14 ski season with a splash!  Pond skimming returns to Waterville Valley Resort on Saturday, April 5 during the 2nd Annual Last Run Luau!

Head to the mountain early and register for pond skimming from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 in the Base Lodge.  Registration is open to the first 75 brave souls to sign-up and is free with a valid 4/5/2014 lift ticket or 2013/14 season pass.

Festivities kick off at 12 noon with a duck race in the skimming pond on the World Cup trail to raise money for the Whole Village Family Resource Center in Plymouth, NH.  Purchase a duck for $3 at the Ticket Office or at pond skimming registration and help to support a great cause.  You might win a pair of Red Sox tickets!

Pond skimming starts at 12:15 p.m.   2014 Olympians Hannah Kearney, Kris Freeman, and Olympic coach, Bill Enos, will be among the judges.

Pond skimming is a spectator sport! Get up here and be a “Beach Bum” and cheer on competitors as they splash their way across the 100 ft. pond.

After the pond skimming there will be an après and awards party hosted by Shock Top on the Buckets deck starting at 2:30 p.m.  Prizes will be awarded for the Longest Run for skiers and riders (21+ and 20 and under divisions), Beach Bum Favorite, Surfer Style, and Best Wipe Out!  Get creative and dress up for a chance to win the Best Costume prize.  The après party will include music by DJ Mike, giveaways, and $4 beer specials!
