Waterville Valley Ski Resort is open for the 2017/18 season and the Valley’s activities and events calendar is filling up. I don’t want to hear anyone say, There’s nothing to do…!
You’ll notice a plug in this week’s issue of the Resort Insider for a non-Waterville Valley business. The Mad River Coffee House, located down the road in Campton, is a locals favorite for breakfast, lunch and fresh roasted coffee. It’s also becoming known for its coffee house-style music scene. Stop by on Friday nights starting at 7 p.m. and enjoy an evening with talented musicians. There is no cover charge and beer, wine, coffee, pizza slices, small plates and dessert are available.
Tonight, Friday, Dec. 1, Khalif Neville brings the distinctive New Orleans groove to the Coffee House. Khalif’s musical heritage runs deep. Born into the first family of New Orleans music, the Nevilles have long been recognized as ambassadors for the city’s distinctive style of funk, soul and R&B. Khalif has earned his stripes as an accomplished pianist, composer, lyricist, and torch bearer of the New Orleans tradition. His trio, Khalif Neville & Co., blends traditional jazz forms with derivative styles of funk, R&B, and hip-hop. Traditionalists will be drawn to the distinctive New Orleans sound, while younger audiences will identify with a peppering of more contemporary influences.
