Tyler Tales: 13 down; 35 to go

July 14, 2012

My son, Tyler, is continuing his quest to hike all 48 of New Hampshire’s 4,000-footers.  His girlfriend arrived from Japan at the end of June and after buying her a pair of new hiking boots, and with a little cajoling and practice with some easier mountain hikes, Tyler and Lauren summited his 9th and 10th (and her 1st and 2nd) 4,000-footers – Mt. Osceola (4340 ft.) & East Osceola 4156 ft.) on July 3.

On Sunday, July 8, Tyler hit the trail sans Lauren for a hike to the summits of Cannon (4100 ft.), N. Kinsman (4293 ft.) and S. Kinsman (4358 ft.).  During this marathon walk in the woods, Tyler visited one pond, one lake, three summits and traveled 13 miles.  This was by far the most challenging hike Tyler’s experienced to date.  By the time he returned home 9 hours after he left the house, his legs were like jelly.

Tyler parked his car waaayyy down there...and probably wished he could just jump to it!
