January 7, 2012

Adaptive skiers from around the world will descend upon Waterville Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 10 through Thursday, Jan. 12 for the U.S. Adaptive Alpine National Championships.  This prestigious event will showcase the most talented disabled athletes from the United States, Canada, and other countries as they compete for the slalom and giant slalom national titles.

Several Waterville Valley organizations will collaborate to run this event, including the ski resort, the Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports Program and Waterville Valley BBTS snowsports club

Bob Fries,  president of Waterville Valley Ski Resort, said the resort is thrilled that the U.S. Olympic Committee selected Waterville Valley.  “We are so excited about the resort returning to the national and international stage for hosting elite level skiing events,” Bob said.  “The Adaptive Alpine National Championships will truly be an exciting event to have at Waterville Valley.”

Spectators are welcomed and volunteers are still needed to help run the event.  Volunteers may sign-up online.
