Waterville Academy Student is Hometown Hero

March 14, 2017

Each week WMUR-TV’s Hometown Hero sports segment spotlights a New Hampshire high school student/athlete.

Last week’s Hometown Hero was Waterville Valley’s own Grace Henderson, a freeskier with the WVBBTS club.  Grace recently took 1st place in the Big Air competition and 7th place in the Slopestyle competition at the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open (which is held at the same venues as the X-Games).

Grace is a year-round student athlete in the Pinnacle program at Waterville Valley Academy.  The Pinnacle program allows elite snowsports athletes like Grace to maximize their training while still receiving an excellent high school education. During the winter, Grace trains at Waterville Valley Resort. In the off-season, she participates in trampoline training and practices jumps into a giant airbag at WVBBTS-SEF’s state-of-the-art training facilities — Phil’s Hill Bag Jump Training Center and the Tom Barbeau Training Center.
