Six features were set on Exhibition including a flat-down-flat, box, barrel and shockingly (or not so shocking), a series of rails. Red Bull was on site blasting the zone with beats while Terrain Park Manager, Luke Mathison, provided commentary on the successes and sometimes mishaps of the participants. Riders let loose on the park after a long off-season anxiously awaiting white heavenly bliss to fall from the sky or snow guns, as is the method for such an early season event. The WV Park Rangers kept it crispy out there for the riders after a quick AM run with the SnowCat making for perfect snow conditions. Riders were flying high above the setup, at times turning the rail jam into more of a premature big air event.
After an hour long jam sesh it was a tough choice for the WV Park Rangers and Rome Rep, Chris Piatek, to name a clear overall winner. Tough, but not impossible. Dennis Filteau snagged the top spot and earned himself some sweet gear from Rome, DVS and Dragon. Bar Dadon and Kevin Court followed right behind him and Hannah Kelsey snagged the top spot in the woman’s division.
As always a tremendous thank you goes out to all of the sponsors involved in making this event so awesome; Rome, DVS, Dragon, 686, Spacecraft and Red Bull.
Next up on the docket for WV Parks is World Snowboard Day on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013! The WV Park Rangers will be hitting the park with riders during the afternoon’s Open Jam session. A $5 cash BBQ at the Hubba Hut, swag giveaways and Learn to Ride discounts will round out the day.
