Great Weekend for Waterville Valley Skiers

The Waterville Valley Junior Seasonals were well represented on Feb. 22 at the 30th annual Kare Andersen Telemark Festival at Bromley, VT. A big shout out to my young cousin, Ian Boisvert (left) and his fellow skiers Jacob Badway, Sam Garber, and Dylan Weglarz, who took first place in the expert division!

It was a very busy and very successful weekend for WVBBTS ski racing!

Alpine Results

Five WVBBTS athletes have been named to the U18 Nationals Competition to be held at Copper Mountain in Colorado on Feb. 27 – March 6. Chase St. Laurent, Christopher Bertram, Anna Foley, Rachel Nawrocki, and Marika Nawrocki will compete against the best U18 athletes from around the country on a newly built Copper training and race venue. The team departs tomorrow. Our hopes are high and we wish these athletes the best of luck!


Rachel Nawrocki was the 1st placed U18 athlete at a FIS race at Sugarbush, and placed 7th overall.
U21 Whitney Hadden placed 10th overall.


NHARA U16 Ladies’ Qualifier – Slalom at Mount Sunapee
Grace Getman placed 7th, Lauren Turner placed 8th, and Ruby Antonioli placed 9th.

NHARA U16 Men’s Qualifier at Ragged Mountain
Elliot Ryan placed 2nd, Hunter Brayton placed 3rd, Matt Austin placed 4th, and Macklin Fitzpatrick placed 9th.


After Sunday’s Slalom Qualifiers, 14 WVBBTS U16 athletes were named to the NH State team to the Eastern U-16 Championships at Whiteface in March.

Ladies: Hannah Trudeau, Kristina Wolff, Lauren Turner, Grace Getman, Emma Ryan, Ruby Antonioli, and Liz Murphy.

Men: Matt Austin, Elliot Ryan, Will Trudeau, Macklin Fitzpatrick, Derick Peake along with Geo Lazzari and Hunter Brayton who represented the US in a European tour this winter.

U16 SL Qualifier at Cannon Ladies
Lauren Turner placed 7th overall and Emma Ryan placed 10th overall.

Qualifying for the U-16 Eastern Finals at Sunday River was Jessie Gentilella. More BBTS athletes could be joining Jessie pending the U-16 state finals at Ragged next weekend.

U16 SL Qualifier at Pats Peak
The U-16 boys took swept the podium and then some at Pats Peak on Sunday! Gio Lazzari took 1st, Matt Austin 2nd, Will Trudeau 3rd, and Elliot Ryan placed 4th.

BBTS U12 & U14 Ladies took 8 of the overall top 10 spots in U12 U14 Northern Div Qualifier – Giant Slalom at Waterville Valley
U14s Samantha Naples placed 1st, Lillian Patterson placed 2nd, and Grace Braun placed 3rd. Also making the top 10, U14 Rebecca Caron (4th), U14 Allie Soper (7th), U12 Mae Colwell (8th), and U12 Meghan Gillis (10th)

BBTS did some damage on the men’s side during the U12 U14 Northern Men’s Div Qualifier – Giant Slalom at Waterville Valley
U14 Rowen Ainslie placed 1st overall, followed by U12 Joseph Colwell in 2nd. U14 Matthew Ryan placed 4th overall. U14 Will Bertram placed 8th overall and U14 Justin Turner placed 9th.

Freestyle Results

The Rosemary Bowl took place this weekend here at Waterville.  The BBTS Mogul ‘A’ team aka Remy Vrahas placed 8th in Saturday’s Mogul competition!

A small contingent of Freestylers competed at Nashoba Valley this weekend. Carolyn Fernandes came in 1st for slopestyle and Drew Peatman looked fantastic!

Over at Whaleback this weekend the Freestyle ‘B’ team once again tore it up!

Saturday’s Slopestyle Results

Men’s U9 found Jack Cragg in 3rd place.
Men’s U11 saw James Christian in 2nd place.
For the Women’s U13 BBTS swept the podium with Samantha Mulder in 1st, Carolyn Fernandes in 2nd, and Claire Sheehan in 3rd.
The U13 Men also swept the podium with Aiden Mitchell in 1st, Michael Sheehan in 2nd, and Drew Peatman in 3rd.
Women’s U15 found Grace Henderson in 1st and Shelby Alexander in 3rd.
Men’s U15 saw Jamie Bayha in 1st and Alexander DeMurias in 3rd.
For Women’s U17 Nina Cragg came in 1st.
For Men’s overall in Slopestyle Jamie Bayha came in 1st followed by Aidan Mitchell in 3rd.
For Women’s overall in Slopestyle BBTS swept with Grace Henderson in 1st, Samantha Mulder in 2nd, and Carolyn Fernandes in 3rd.

Saturday’s Aerial Results

Men’s U11 found James Christian in 3rd.
Women’s U13 saw Samantha Mulder in 1st, Samantha Christian in 2nd, and Claire Sheehan in 3rd.
Men’s U13 found Aidan Mitchell in 1st, Michael Sheehan in 2nd, and Colin Roper in 3rd.
For the Women’s U15 Shelby Alexander in 2nd and Grace Henderson in 3rd.
The U15 Men saw Alexander DeMurias in 1st, Brayden Joyal in 2nd, and Kebo Cragg in 3rd.
U17 Women found Nina Cragg in 1st.

Sunday’s Mogul Results

For the U11 Men Digby Alexander in 2nd place.
U13 Men found Michael Sheehan in 3rd place.
U15 Women saw Shelby Alexander in 3rd place.
For the U15 Men Alexander DeMurias in 1st and Jamie Bayha in 2nd.
Men’s Overall for Moguls found Alexander DeMurias in 2nd.
Women’s Combined Overall saw Samantha Mulder in 1st and Samantha Christian in 3rd.
Men’s Combined Overall was a BBTS sweep with Alexander DeMurias in 1st, Michael Sheehan in 2nd, and Aidan Mitchell in 3rd.
