The Waterville Valley Hall of Fame committee recently set the date for the 5th annual Waterville Valley Hall of Fame ceremony – Saturday evening, March 25, 2017, at the Waterville Valley Resort Conference Center.
Congratulations the 2017 Hall of Fame inductees.
Long-time resident, volunteer, USA National age group champion, artist, and former National Freestyle judge. Birdie was one of the judges for the first ever Freestyle competition in Waterville Valley. In 1971, Birdie was one of the founders of Waterville Valley’s own news magazine, the Wig Wag.
Bill captured ISF and FIS World Cup wins as a member of the first-ever US Snowboard Team in 1994. He is an Olympic Gold Medal coach who spent five years as the slopestyle coach for the US Snowboarding team, and was a long-time WVBBTS Snowboarding Zen Master to many students.
Jack is recognized as one of the original founders of the sport of freestyle skiing. He chaired the first Freestyle National Championship which was held in Waterville Valley. Jack served on the board of the WVBBTS in addition to serving on the USSA National Freestyle Teams Committee and the three-person Steering Committee that ran the sport nationally.
The festivities begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the induction at 8 p.m. Each inductee will have a presenting speaker, there will be a video presentation, acceptance speeches and exceptional, over-the-top camaraderie.
