Waterville Valley Offers “Bucket List” Experience: Become Part of Torchlight Parade

December 4, 2011

This season Waterville Valley Resort invites skiers/riders to become part of a torchlight parade.

Starry Nights Torchlight Dinners

Last winter’s inaugural Starry Nights dinners at the Sunnyside Timberlodge were a huge hit.  In fact, they were so popular that Waterville Valley Ski Resort has made them a signature attraction for the 2011/12 winter.

Starry Nights will be offered on five Satruday nights this winter.  This bucket list experience includes being whisked up the Valley Run Quad chairlift, then skiing or riding down to the mid-mountain Sunnyside Timberlodge along a trail lit by torches. Upon arrival, guests are given cozy souvenir ski socks to wear as they warm-up fireside while enjoying appetizers and selected wines.  A full four-course dinner follows, accompanied by special entertainment.

While being able to ski or ride is not a prerequisite to enjoying the evening, those who can slide will be given torches to carry when snaking down the mountain behind a guide. Non-skiers/riders will enjoy snowmobile rides to the base lodge.

Starry Nights torchlight dinners are planned for Dec. 31, Jan. 14, Feb. 4, Feb. 18 and Mar. 3.  The cost, including four-course dinner, is $100 per person (slightly higher on New Year’s Eve).  Reservations are limited to 60 guests and reservations are required by calling Waterville Valley Resort at 603-236-8311 ext. 3000.
