Waterville Valley Rocks REI Outessa

October 5, 2018

What a weekend September 13-16 was! The weather was fabulous as Waterville Valley played host to 380 participants and 150 staff members and guides for REI Outessa – a women’s only outdoor retreat packed full of activities, discussions, discovery, workshops, good food and wine.

Outessa staffers created a vibrant village within our own village with DIY campsites, a fancy camp, outdoor classrooms, a vendor village and all the necessary gear for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, paddle boarding, yoga and more.

Behind the scenes, Waterville Valley Resort staffers worked tirelessly to make this event a success.

According to Waterville Valley Resort’s Event Manager, Jamie Cobbett, every Outessa guest and staff member that he talked to had nothing but glowing comments about our Yankee Shangri-la.

Jamie said, “I personally spoke with guests who were back for a second year, as well as  women who had never been to New Hampshire. They all fell in love with Waterville Valley.”

He added, “This event is extremely beneficial to Waterville Valley and the whole community. Many of the participants and guides would never have visited Waterville Valley if it wasn’t for Outessa. For these people to go back to wherever they are from and tell friends, family and co-workers what an amazing place we have here makes it all worthwhile. We definitely made a lasting impression on everyone that attended Outessa the last two years. If REI continues to offer the Outessa event, we will be the first on the list to host.”

Jamie shared an email he received from Rachel Minucciani, REI’s Senior Program Director of Events and Marketing.  She wrote: “Thank you doesn’t begin to cover the overwhelming awesomeness that came out of this past weekend. You and your team of incredible rock stars went above and beyond to make the weekend magical. Our team is still glowing with pride from all we accomplished together. Please extend our warmest congrats and thank you’s to your team from ours.”
