Waterville Valley friends and neighbors are invited to participate in the 12th annual Gazebo Sashay on Sunday, Oct 20, 2013.
What is the Gazebo Sashay you say? It is a strolling – or should I say – sashaying outdoor party that moves from one Waterville Valley gazebo to another. Being valorous Watervillians, the party goes on whether it’s sunny, cloudy, sprinkling or flurrying!
The fun starts at noon at the Reid Gazebo on Rt. 49 and will sashay to three more gazebos throughout the afternoon.
Email Dorothy if you can bring a dish to share. If you’d like to bring wine or beer to share, just bring it along to the first gazebo. There will be a basket for donations.
The tradition of the Gazebo Sashay was started years ago by long-time Waterville Valley resident, Donald Jasinski, who passed away in early 2011. Donald served as the Sashay’s informal Grand Marshal for many years.
Donald loved the gazebos tucked around Waterville Valley and he helped lead the charge to save and renovate several of the historically significant structures, including the Sisters gazebo by the Tennis Center, named for Donald’s own sisters.
In 2008, Waterville Valley blogger, Andy Knight, wrote, “The Waterville Valley Foundation proudly supports the preservation of the Valley’s gazebos, which are a unique and historic feature that celebrates the slower pace of life here in the Valley, where taking the time to stop and visit with a friend just seems like the right thing to do.”
So…take the time to slow your pace and visit with your friends and neighbors on Sunday, Oct. 20 starting at 12 noon!
