Winter Art Workshops

March 1, 2012

by Jan Stearns

Winter is a good time of year to pull out your arts and crafts supplies.  The Rey Center can help stimulate the creative juices at two upcoming art workshops.

Watercolor for Beginners with Tamsin Zimbone

March 13, 1-4pm – March 15, 1-4pm
Waterville Valley artist Tamsin Zimbone (right) is offering a 3-day watercolor workshop for beginners. Tamsin will provide the layout for a landscape scene, and then together, step-by-step, you will paint. No experience necessary. You will leave with a completed painting!
Fee for 3-day workshop: $75 for members, $90 for non-members – all materials included.

Acrylic and Mixed Media with Maryellen Sakura

March 23, 1-4pm – March 24, 10am-4pm
Acrylics are the clean-up friendly alternative to oils. They also have some great characteristics on application techniques.  Local artist Maryellen Sakura will help you explore imagery on panels but also work to combine the unexpected discoveries in surfaces found and built. This is a time to free yourself of preconceptions. Bring to this workshop a great attitude and a work that you admire from a book or magazine.
Fee for 2-day workshop: $120 for members, $145 for non-members – all materials included.

Both workshops will be held at the Curious George Cottage, Noon Peak Road, Waterville Valley.  Space is limited; advance registration is required. Workshops are designed for adults and youth ages 15+.  To register or for more information call 603-236-3308 or
